Characters
Victor
Victor is a man of selfishness. He takes little responsibility for his actions which is easily shown from when he creates the creature, lets the creature leave, does not say anything when the creature murders people multiple times, and does not make mends with the creature in the end to follow through with the creatures request. His actions of irresponsibly seem to show that he may have not had a structural childhood or he has the need to rebel for his father putting down his choice of education or his mothers death. Victor does have a change in heart, but it seems to be a little to late after most of his family has died when he seems to want to go after the creature for all the murders. It is simple to hold Victor accountable for all the creatures actions, yet Victor could never hold himself responsible for them.

The Creature
The creature is not only smart but has a lot of care. Though he has trouble controlling his actions, it is obvious though his admirations that he truly means well. He and Victor seem to hold a lot in common as far as their admirations for beauty and knowledge, and they both seem to act without thinking. The creature seems as if he does not know his own strengths and often regrets them later, as shown in the end when he regrets the evil he brought upon and also when he kills William and feels terrible after. His ambition to keep trying to befriend humans or help them shows that he is loving and wants love himself.

Elizabeth
Elizabeth is the eye of beauty and innocence. From the beginning to the end of the novel, Elizabeth brings happiness into everyone's lives and plays an important role as Victor's happiness most importantly. She is kind but not naïve as shown when she confronts Victor about his constant leaving and traveling. She always wants what is best for him even if its not what she wants, as she shows in letters of concerns to Victor.

Henry Clerval
Much like Elizabeth, Henry is happiness, innocence, but also knowledge. Henry was Victor's best friend. And a good friend, he was. Henry was caring of Victor when he was sick and always encouraged Victor to be with his family or write to them. Henry also very much was eager to learn and enjoyed traveling. He was an explorer and yet so innocent for his death.

Alphonse Frankenstein
Alphonse was father of Victor. He was stern but also sympathetic towards Victor. He always encouraged Victor's education at Ingolstadt despite his remarks at Victor's choice of readings as a boy. Alphonse was there for Victor when Victor was ill in prison and he acknowledged the pain Victor was going through.

Robert Walton
Walton is a kind hearted man. He is a romantic and desires friends more than anything. He has a passion for destiny and exploring. The letters to his sister show that he has a strong sense of family, as she probably is the little family he has. Walton also has motivation and good workmanship.
